Join us as a revenues & benefits apprentice, and get real, on-the-job training and experience as well as a recognised professional qualification in business fundamentals. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your knowledge and confidence as you find out how our business works, as well as earn a competitive salary. After a full induction and initial training program, you’ll join our team full-time as a revenues and benefits apprentice with time set aside so you can continue working towards your diploma.
You’ll join us at Capita in our C&P Resilience Services division. Here, we manage tax and other revenue collection, benefits payments, building control support, IT networks, accounting and much more – making it easier for council teams to concentrate on doing what they do best. In this permanent role as a revenues apprentice, you’ll help to deliver an accurate housing benefit, council tax reduction and revenues processing service in a cost effective and caring manner. When your apprenticeship has ended, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to grow your career!
As part of Capita apprenticeships, you will have access to Capita Academy’s core competencies portfolio. You’ll attend sessions both virtually and in person developing competencies such as self-awareness, resilience, communicating with impact and building collaborative relationships.
This role is hybrid, and you’ll have the ability to work from home or in an office local to you. No matter where you’re located, we’ll give you all the support you need, with a structured induction program to prepare you for the role, a buddy, a career coach and regular check-ins with your team manager as well as mentoring towards your qualification. You’ll also have access to a wealth of information, guidance and support through our wellbeing hub including mental, physical, social and financial wellbeing You’ll work 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm, and will be paid a salary of £21,255 per year.
What you’ll be doing:
updating and maintaining computer records
processing revenues, housing and council tax support accounts and claims
investigating information to ensure council tax and business rates are correct
keeping up to date with ever-changing regulations and legislation
working with other organisations, such as Revenues and Customs and the DWP by telephone
providing information and advice in response to enquiries about liability and recovery.

a positive attitude and eagerness to learn
a good telephone manner and the ability to adapt your approach to different situations
the ability to learn the use of different IT software, including Microsoft Office.
