We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Principal Anaesthetic Practitioner (ODP/Anaesthetic Nurse) to join our Operating Theatres department based at The London Clinic’s main hospital in London. We are offering a highly competitive salary of £52,970 - £63,591 per annum + unsociable hours shift enhancements. Salary is dependent on skills and experience.
Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals, with state-of-the-art facilities located around Harley Street. We have approx. 1300 employees across 8 sites, and our main hospital site spans 8 floors comprising of 10 theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and 2 minimally invasive and day surgery theatres. Job Profile
The Principle Anaesthetic Practitioner will provide advanced knowledge, skills, leadership and line management for the department, whilst directly/indirectly supervising the senior/junior staff within the anaesthetic department.

- Job Location: This role is located at our main hospital site in London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations).
- Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Sunday. We operate a mixed shift pattern, working 5 shifts p/week - Earlies, Lates & unsocial hours, as well as participation in the on-call rota.
- Salary: £52,970 - £63,591per annum, plus we also offer unsociable hours shift enhancements. The salary will be dependent upon skills, experience and expertise.

Key Duties
- The role combines clinical expertise, leadership and educational/research skills with managerial and professional responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of patient care.
- Overall accountability for the day to day management of the registered practitioners and support staff within your team whilst being accessible and visible to staff, patients and visitors.
- Promote best evidence based practice as well as contribute to quality improvement, and assist in the enhancement, development, induction of services and initiatives.
- Ensure staffing is at an appropriate level to meet patient needs and take an active role in the reduction of agency and bank staff, in line with the objectives of The London Clinic.
- Develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self, as well as conduct staff appraisals ensuring that any training needs are addressed and professional objectives set.
- Ensure a welcoming, caring and safe environment, as well as promoting, maintaining and monitoring high standards of care in accordance with the guidelines of the NMC/HCPC/CQC.
Skills & Experience
- RGN/ODP qualified practitioner, with NMC/HCPC registration and an anaesthetic course qualification.
- Strong knowledge and clinical expertise in anaesthetics with an excellent understanding of the perioperative needs of patients and customers
- Experience of leading a team and/or coordinating staff, as well as managing a budget and resources.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, with a proven record of clinical decision-making, autonomy and evidence of applying clinical reasoning skills to prioritise care.
- Self-motivated with a passion for high quality patient care, and the ability to cope in sensitive and challenging situations whilst working to deadlines and adopting a flexible approach to working arrangements.
